Pura Cup final, Brisbane, day two: New South Wales 282 and 166-4 (at close) v Queensland 84

Australian Test leg-spinner Stuart MacGill took five wickets as New South Wales charged into a commanding position over defending champions Queensland.

MacGill bamboozled the opposition with a haul of 5-16 in 32 balls as Queensland slumped to 84 all out in their first innings, avoiding the follow-on by just one run.

NSW reached 166 for four at stumps, on top of their first innings 282, to lead by 364 runs with six wickets in hand and three days to play.

Australian Test captain Steve Waugh (47 not out) and brother Mark (20 not out) were unbeaten at the close as NSW piled on the pressure.

Steve Waugh announced during the lunch break on Saturday that he was available to tour the West Indies with Australia next month but brother Mark admitted this could be his last first-class match.

The touring team is expected to be announced on Monday.
