| Thursday, 12 December, 2002, 14:12 GMT England out of blind World Cup ![]() England beat India and Pakistan in the group stage A century from all-rounder Timothy Guttridge was not enough to save England from a 111-run defeat to Pakistan in the blind cricket World Cup semi-finals. England had already defeated Pakistan and hosts India to finish fourth in the league table and progress to the knockout stage. They were left on the back foot after Pakistan racked up 393 for eight off their 40 overs, Amir Ishfaq hitting 87, Ashraf Bhatti 83 and Tariq Samuel 76. With Guttridge at the crease, there was still a hope of victory, England reaching 197 for three at the half-way stage. Guttridge shared a 103-run stand for the fourth wicket with skipper Adam Benjamin, who made 43, but was finally bowled by Sulman Elahi for a 104-ball 64. And England collapsed to be bowled out for 282 with seven overs to spare. Pakistan go on to meet defending champions South Africa, four-wicket victors over Australia, in Saturday's final. | See also: 29 Nov 02 | Cricket Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Cricket stories now: Links to more Cricket stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
