The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) banned Jadeya, 32, and former all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar for their involvement in match-fixing. At the same time, former skipper Mohammed Azharuddin and batsman Ajay Sharma received life bans after a BCCI probe, based on a report by India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). But Jadeja filed an appeal claiming that the report had no basis in law. "The CBI itself had stated that its report on match fixing issue was not legally enforceable", Jadeja's counsel PP Malhotra argued at the time. Considered a one-day specialist, Jadeja appeared in just 15 Tests for his country, but playing in 196 limited-overs matches, 13 as captain, scoring 5359 runs at an average of 37.47. Both the BCCI and Jadeja have agreed to withdraw their cases from the Delhi High Court. The arbitrator is expected to come to a decision within two months of hearing the arguments of both sides. Meanwhile, Azharuddin is expecting to hear shortly whether his appeal will be upheld by the High Court of Hyderabad. | See also: 15 Oct 02 | Cricket 27 Feb 02 | Cricket Top Cricket stories now: Links to more Cricket stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
