![]() | Tuesday, 2 October, 2001, 09:52 GMT 10:52 UK Notts duo sign contracts ![]() Johnson will start his 21st consecutive season at Notts Nottinghamshire captain Jason Gallian and their longest serving player Paul Johnson have signed new contracts at the club. Gallian agreed a deal that will keep him at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2004 season and Johnson will start his 21st consecutive season on the playing staff after signing a new one-year contract. Gallian only played in one championship and a single Norwich Union League match last season following keyhole surgery to his knee, leaving Darren Bicknell to act as captain in his absence. He played his first innings during the washed out one-day league match against Warwickshire at the start of August. He then broke a finger against the same side in the championship game two days later and decided to return for a second knee operation. But the 30-year-old former England batsman is expected to be fully fit for the start of the 2002 campaign. Former captain Johnson, 36, appeared in 13 Championship matches last season, scoring almost 700 runs at an average of 31.
