Inzamam 'investigated'
Condon is reported to be investigating Inzamam
Condon is reported to be investigating Inzamam
Cricket's match-fixing investigators are pursuing new suspects, including Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram and the West Indies' Brian Lara, reports say.

Lord Condon, head of the International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption Unit, confirmed other cases were being pursued.

He did not name names but Friday's Daily Telegraph revealed the three cricketers identities as the latest sportsmen to be investigated.

So far Condon's investigations have cleared England wicketkeeper Alec Stewart of any wrongdoing, as well as Australia's Mark Waugh, New Zealand's Martin Crowe and Sri Lankans Arjuna Ranatunga and Aravinda de Silva.

And Condon believed his team, with the help of other investigators around the world, have significantly reduced the amount of corruption within the game.

Condon said: "We are still working on other cases that at present are not in the public domain.

"There are individuals who are in our sights and they are not in any way linked to the names that came out in India's CBI report."

Inzamam is allegedly being investigated about his performance in a one-day game against Australia on 9 June.

Censured

In the match the Pakistan batsman was out for a duck.

Wasim Akram has always denied being involved in match-fixing.

He was fined and censured by Judge Malik Mohammed Qayyum over his behaviour but has continued to play for Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board in currently investigating allegations that matches involving Pakistan during the 1999 World Cup in England were rigged.

Lara is being investigated by Barbadian QC Elliott Mottley as part of a West Indian board inquiry into alleged match-fixing.

The batsman has also denied any involvement in corruption and rejected claims by Indian bookmaker Mukesh Gupta that he was paid $40,000 to underperform in two one-day games.
