Friends Life t20, Chelmsford

Essex v Surrey. No result. 1pt each

Essex and Surrey were thwarted by the weather at Chelmsford, where their FL t20 match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Ironically, the weather turned just after Essex captain James Foster had won the toss and decided to bat.

The rain started as soon and he and Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown had returned to the pavilion.

It was still falling when umpires Tim Robinson and Mark Benson reached their decision that the match was off.
