Northants wrap up win over Gloucestershire

Northants took only half an hour on the final morning to complete victory over Gloucestershire at Bristol by an innings and six runs.

Gloucestershire had resumed on 248-8, needing 21 more to make Northants bat again, with Will Gidman 76 not out.

But he could only watch as Lee Daggett (3-42) had David Payne caught at slip by Andrew Hall before bowling Craig Miles to dismiss the hosts for 263.

Victory took Northants top of Division Two, 12 points ahead of Middlesex.

Gidman, who had hit an unbeaten 116 in Gloucestershire's first innings, remained undefeated on 81.
