It ends a stand-off which had prompted the government to order an inquiry into the running of the KCA. The 11, including captain Maurice Odumbe, were sacked earlier this year after being accused to trying to hold the Association to ransom in their demand for improved pay and conditions. It resulted in the cancellation of tours to India and Bangladesh but the players responded by threatening legal action.
The new contracts will provide monthly pay increases of more than 40 per cent. "We have spent sleepless nights over the last two months. "We are happy about the new arrangements and are ready to resume our cricket," said wicket-keeper Kennedy Otieno. The tour to Kenya will now go ahead in November. "We are fully satisfied with the terms and conditions we have agreed with the players, which are of course much better than they were previously," said KCA chairman Jimmy Rayani. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Cricket stories: Links to top Cricket stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||
