Floods force Slalom European Championships cancellation

The Canoe Slalom European Championships in Slovakia have been cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.

Heavy rainfall in Bratislava has caused flash flooding, and emergency measures in place to combat a fresh wave have enforced the cancellation of the event.

Organisers felt the reduced water levels in the artificial slalom course in Cunovo would mean unfair conditions.

Great Britain's David Florence and Campbell Walsh had been aiming to secure their first European medals.
