Robert Dickie is one a select few Welshman to win a British title

Former British featherweight and super-featherweight champion boxer Robert Dickie has died at the age of 46.

The Welsh fighter won the vacant British featherweight crown after defeating John Feeney on points at the Royal Albert Hall in April 1986.

Dickie relinquished the title after two defences to move to super-featherweight where he became WBC International champ when he beat Hengky Gun in March 1988.

Dickie won the British super-feather belt in 1991 beating Kevin Pritchard.

But the boxer from Cefneithin in Carmarthenshire retired after losing his final two fights, including his British super-featherweight title to Sugar Gibiliru.

Dickie won 22 - 15 by way of knock-out - and lost two of his 28 professional fights between 1983 and 1993.

The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed on Friday that Dickie had passed away. The cause of Dickie's death is currently unknown.
