Nathan Cleverly has won 10 of his 20 fights within the distance
Frank Warren wants Nathan Cleverly to fight for a world title on his 30th anniversary show in London in December.
The European light-heavyweight champion beat previously unbeaten Karo Murat in the official WBO title final eliminator with a 10th-round stoppage on Saturday.
Now promoter Warren is keen for the unbeaten 23-year-old to end the year crowned as Wales' 11th world champion.
"Next is the world championship," said Warren. "I've spoken to the WBO and we are trying arrange it for December."
Cleverly insists he is destined to be a world champion after defeating German Murat in Birmingham on Saturday.
The Welshman closed in on a WBO title shot after his victory in an official final eliminator.
That title could become vacant if champion Juergen Braehmer fails in his appeal against a 16-month prison sentence for assault and insulting behaviour.
"It all went to plan, I trained hard and I'm destined to be world champion," Cleverly told BBC Sport after his win over Murat.
"That's what world champions do, they go in, remain unbeaten, look exciting and I took that guy apart."
The Cefn Fforest fighter is now unbeaten in 20 fights, with 10 finishing inside the scheduled finish.
Now Warren plans for Cleverly to fill the Welsh world championship void left by Cleverly's former mentor Joe Calzaghe when he retired in 2008.
"If the current champion loses his appeal for his conviction, then he will go to prison and Nathan will be declared champion," said Warren.
"Nathan will then make a defence of the title in December. It will my 30th anniversary show in London and hopefully it will be a special night for boxing fans. It will certainly be a special night for me.
"It will be a special night with special fighters. Nathan is a special fighter and I'm looking forward to seeing him on that show."
If Braehmer's appeal is successful and he avoids a prison spell, Warren would like to match the German with Cleverly on another blockbuster bill in December.
"I'm not too sure what the situation is with him," said Cleverly. "If he doesn't go to prison, then I'm fighting him in December and that will be for the full world title.
"It's getting close, I can feel it, it's within my grasp.
"It's everything I've dreamed for and there's no way I'm going to let it slip. I've come too far to let this occasion slip.
"I will become world champion, I will remain unbeaten and I will be the next big thing in Great Britain."
