Khan won on his debut in the US in May |
Amir Khan has been released from hospital after fears he had caught malaria while on holiday in Africa. The WBA light-welterweight champion has recently returned from a holiday in Egypt and South Africa, for the World Cup finals. He was taken to hospital in Bolton on Sunday with a high temperature and was kept in for observation. But his father Shah Khan told BBC Radio Manchester: "Amir's OK now. All the tests came back negative." Khan last fought in May, when he stopped Paulie Malignaggi in the 11th round in his debut in the United States. He is currently weighing up his options for his next fight. Khan has stated he is keen to fight the winner of Marcos Maidana's fight with Timothy Bradley, which is expected to take place this autumn. But Khan has been accused of "ducking" a fight with Australian Michael Katsidis, who knocked out previously unbeaten Brit Kevin Mitchell in May.
