Scott Lawton has won 27 of his 33 professional bouts |
Scott Lawton will fight Russia's Leva Kirakosyan for the vacant European super-featherweight title at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent on 19 February. The 33-year-old moved down a weight after two unsuccessful attempts to win the British lightweight title. Richard Poxon, who is promoting the fight, told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a fantastic opportunity for Scott. "It's a real chance for him to take a big leap and establish himself at his new weight in Europe." Lawton knocked out former world champion Derry Matthews in his last fight, his first at super-featherweight, in November. Kirakosyan, 36, has won 31 of his 36 professional bouts, but will give away around five inches in height to Lawton.
