Quigley was due to face former champion Brian Magee
British super-middleweight champion Tony Quigley's title defence against Brian Magee is off after he injured his left shoulder in training.
The two men were due to meet at the Olympia Theatre in Quigley's home city of Liverpool on 4 July.
"It would have been my first defence in Liverpool and it's off," Quigley told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"I have shoulder-to-bicep tendinitis and I have to see a specialist this week to see how bad the injury is."
Quigley took the vacant title in March with a 12th-round stoppage victory over former champion and fellow Merseysider Tony Dodson.
The 25-year-old was looking forward to defending his title in front of his home fans against another former champion in the shape of Northern Ireland's Magee.
"I'm gutted for Liverpool, I'm gutted for me and I'm gutted for Brian Magee.
"I'm not one to pull out of fights as I fought Tony Dodson without a mile's running because I wanted to win the title. I wanted to fight but I can't fight Brian Magee without throwing any punches.
"I have to make sure that I'm 100% when I get in the ring now because I'm the champion."
Quigley admits he is unsure how long he is likely to be out of action but says when he is ready to defend his title he expects it to be against Brian Magee.
"As far as I know he's my next opponent and that's how its going to stay. He's my next opponent and he'll be fighting for the British super-middleweight title, that's all I can say."
