Mancunian Moore turned professional in October 1999

Jamie Moore defended his European light-middleweight crown in fine style stopping Ukrainian Roman Dzuman in two rounds in Sunderland.

Moore, 30, had Dzuman down early in the second with a left hook to the body and floored his opponent again before the referee called a halt to the fight.

Earlier on the bill Danny Williams retained his British heavyweight title with a points win over John McDermott.

Williams, 35, earned a split decision victory in a lack-lustre affair.

Salford's Moore, who takes his record to 32 victories, 23 knockouts, with three defeats, now hopes to challenge for a world title following his victory.

"You saw how I dismantled Dzuman and I'm getting better and better and am focused on getting a world title shot now," said Moore, who was making the first defence of his European crown.

"I'll face any of the world champions and beat them."

Williams, who controversially beat McDermott on points in July 2008, now takes his record to 41 wins, 31 knockouts, and seven defeats.

Many disputed his previous victory over McDermott, including the challenger, and the ill-feeling was evident in a lively start to the fight.

Despite the pre-fight hype neither boxer was able to clearly assert themselves in a frustrating affair.

Of the two, Williams landed the cleaner punches and showed the most style, earning a 116-111 113-115 116-111 points victory.

"I proved that I am the number one in Britain," said Williams.

"He showed heart but my career was on the line, I knew if I lost I'd be finished."
