WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch says defending his title for the first time in his home city of Nottingham would have been "too easy".

Froch is currently in North America preparing to fight ex-middleweight world champion Jermain Taylor.

And the 31-year-old told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I don't want to be in my comfort zone at the Nottingham Arena.

"It's 10 minutes from my house - there can be a pint of Guinness poured for me within half an hour of the fight!"

Froch won the world title after out-pointing Canadian Jean Pascal in Nottingham in December.

It left him with a perfect 24-0 record and he will face American Taylor in Connecticut on 25 April.

"It's too easy for me in Nottingham, so I'm going to bring the title back to Nottingham once I've showcased my skills in America," he added.

Froch's trainer Robert McCracken said: "Britain doesn't produce Carl Frochs easily. We'll be lucky if another one comes along in the next 50 years.

"He doesn't get favours, he doesn't ask for favours - he's the real deal, and is like a throwback fighter."
