Women's boxing could make its Olympic debut at the 2012 Games in London. The sport's amateur governing body has voted to propose its inclusion to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with a decision expected in October. "This is a crucial decision in the development of women's boxing," said International Boxing Association (AIBA) President Dr. Wu Ching-Kuo. "AIBA fully support the idea. Now we must work hard to try to put forward a proposal the IOC can not refuse." A final decision on whether the sport will be included in the London Games is expected to be made at the IOC conference in Copenhagen in October. Earlier this week, Olympics minister Tessa Jowell said she wanted rules that prevent women from competing in as many Olympic or Paralympic events as men to be changed by the 2012 Games. She said it was "wrong" that under current regulations men could compete in 40 more events than women.
