Martin Rogan and Audley Harrison trade punches in London |
Martin Rogan wants a crack at the European heavyweight title after beating Audley Harrison at London's ExCeL Arena on Saturday night. The 37-year-old Belfast cabbie is eyeing a showdown with Matt Skelton if the Bedford fighter can overcome Paolo Vidoz in Milan on 19 December. "I've just beaten a guy in the top 50 in the world," said Rogan. "Hopefully Matt Skelton can win and I'll be fighting for the European title early next year." Rogan won the heavyweight Prizefighter tournament earlier this year and is unbeaten in 11 bouts. He added: "I said I would do it and I went out and did it. "I knew it wouldn't be easy and a lot of thought went into it from my trainers and myself. "We went through the paces for two months and we put together everything little thing we could think of. "It's exciting. I'm sore, I've signed a lot of autographs but it's been absolutely great. "It's been a different level for me, a different high and a real achievement. "I'm sure it will sink in when I read the papers during the week." The 41-year-old Skelton takes on Italian boxer Vidoz for the vacant European heavyweight title. Skelton has 21 wins, 18 by knockout, and two defeats in his 23 fights.
