Herbie Hide recently made a successful comeback to the UK
Herbie Hide is one fight away from a shot at the WBC cruiserweight title, and a place in the history books.
Hide is expected to face American Matt Godfrey in a WBC eliminator, with the winner going on to face reigning champion Giacobbe Fragomeni of Italy.
Former two-time world heavyweight champion Hide, 37, could become the first man ever to step down and win a world title in both divisions.
"No man has ever done it, so I'm going to make history," said Hide.
Hide's WBC eliminator with Matt Godfrey is expected to go to purse bids, with the fight likely to happen in the new year. And he is convinced he will go on to take the title.
Hide told BBC Radio Norfolk that he does not see anyone who can stand in his way.
"Right now, as cruiserweight, I see no one on the planet coming close, even though I'm 37 years old.
"When I was 26, 27, I could never imagine anyone who was 37 years old beating me, so these kids today I'm knocking out, I can't understand what's happening in boxing.
"I'm still around today and they're not touching me," he said. "I'm faster than they are, I'm punching harder than they are, I'm fitter than they are. They have a problem."
