Foster gets Cook title challenge

Nicky Cook
Nicky Cook beat Alex Arthur in September to claim the WBO title

Nicky Cook will make the first defence of his WBO super-featherweight title against Stephen Foster Jr on 6 December at London's ExCel Arena.

For Foster the fight comes less than 12 months since his last tilt at a world title with the Salford man losing to Scotland's Alex Arthur on points.

Cook has not fought since beating Arthur to win the title in September.

"It's fantastic to be fighting for the world title again and I won't let the opportunity pass me," said Foster.

"I came so close to beating Arthur last year and I'm still kicking myself about it now," added the 28-year-old.

"If only I had followed up when I hurt him in the 11th round with some more big punches then I could have been crowned champion.

"Anyway, that was a year ago and I've moved on, learnt, and improved and I'm ready to give Cook a real fight for his title.

"He had better be prepared for a long hard fight because the title is coming back with me."

Cook beat Arthur on points in Manchester earlier in the year and will top the bill in London.

The undercard in London will also see Amir Khan returning for the first time since suffering his first career defeat when he takes on Oisin Fagan.

Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli will also face American Jonathon Banks for the vacant WBO cruiserweight title.
