Huyton lightweight John Watson has signed a three-year contract with Hayemaker Promotions. Watson, 24, is the second Merseyside fighter to link up with David Haye following Tony Dodson's decision to sign with the Bermondsey man in June. "They plan to get me in with John Murray within twelve months," Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside. "In twelve to fourteen months they say they can get me the British Title and realistically that's what I want." Watson, a former England International, is unbeaten in his seven fights as a professional. He says he is eager to get into the title picture and is delighted with his new promoters plans for his fledgling career. "On paper they've got down my next ten fights on the big televised shows. "They're looking to improve me in terms of the rankings and bring me on at a good rate and a good level." Watson says the lure of working with David Haye was instrumental in his decision to sign with Hayemaker. "With him being a boxer, that's a big influence. "You get the feeling he's not going to mess you about, he seems a genuine character and that was a big part in me signing with them."
