Norfolk boxer Jon Thaxton has paid tribute to his supporters during his civic reception held at City Hall. The 33-year-old was guest of honour at a special event in Norwich to recognise his achievements in boxing.
Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk, Thaxton said: "It's great. It's a wonderful chance to thank everybody who's helped get me to this position."
His next fight is for the European title against the top-ranked Belarusian Yuri Romanoff.
The reception was the idea of the Lord Mayor of Norwich Roy Blower.
"Jon is a true Norwich boy and I am just pleased that we could have this reception for him.

"He's been a fantastic ambassador for Boxing and the National Anti-Bullying campaign," he said. The evening was a rare break in training for Thaxton who will climb into the ring to challenge Romanoff for the European lightweight crown on April 4th at an as yet un-named venue.
Romanoff is the top lightweight in the W.B.A rankings.
"The preparations are going great. I know that I am the underdog but that is when I am at my best," Thaxton admitted.
Mayor Roy Blower added: "We wish Jon all the best. He has always presented himself in a well mannered way and anyone who does that for the city should have the full accolade."
