Oakey floors Haymer to keep crown
Tony Oakey
Oakey gained revenge for his 2005 loss to Haymer
Tony Oakey knocked out Peter Haymer in the ninth round to retain his British light-heavyweight title in London.

Portsmouth's Oakey, who lost to a close points verdict to Haymer in 2005, delivered a succession of combination punches to put the Londoner in trouble.

The 32-year-old then saw his chance and delivered a ferocious left hook to send his 29-year-old rival to the canvas.

"The knockout was the icing on the cake. It was a hard fight, but I'm pleased to settle the score," he said.

"This time the training went well, and I was really put through my paces in the preparation for the fight.

"I feel I am at my peak now and I'd like a European title fight if (promoter) Frank Maloney can arrange it."
