Ross Minter - out to become world champion like his dad |
Crawley boxer Ross Minter hopes to follow father Alan and become a world champion this Saturday night. Minter takes on Chorley's Michael Jennings for the WBU welterweight title at London's ExCel Arena.
And Minter, who is on the undercard of the Amir Khan bill, told the BBC: "It's a fight that can make me and a great opportunity, but it's a hard one."
Injuries mean Minter has been out of the ring for nearly a year since his knockout defeat to Freddy Curiel.
Minter is happy to pick up any helpful hints he can from father Alan, who became undisputed world middleweight champion when he outpointed Vito Antuofermo in Las Vegas in March 1980.
"He'll watch me spar and say little things," said Minter Jnr.
"But he knows my trainers are looking after me really well.
"My technique, movement and everything is coming together."
