Rendall Munroe hopes to get a crack at the British title in March |
Leicester boxer Rendall Munroe is confident of getting a New Year shot at the British super-bantamweight title. Munroe was due to fight on the Amir Khan undercard in Bolton last weekend but his opponent pulled out.
He now hopes to get his next opportunity in 2008 - and is pencilled in to fight the holder, Newark's Esham Pickering in Barnsley on March 21.
"I spoke to promoter Frank Maloney," said Munroe. "And so far everything he's promised he's brought."
Munroe came through the amateur ranks and works as a binman, something he says that helps him keep in top condition.
"Obviously it's good physical work and it helps and the lads I work with are good when I've got a fight coming up," Munroe told BBC Radio Leicester.
