Ring legends Felix Trinidad and Roy Jones Jr have signed up for a middleweight showdown at New York's Madison Square Garden in the new year. The veteran multi-world champions will clash in a big money non-title contest on 19 January.
Puerto Rican Trinidad is an ex-welter, light-middle and middleweight champion.
American Jones, 38, became the first former middleweight champion to win a world heavyweight crown in 100 years when he beat John Ruiz in 2003.
Jones has also won belts at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
He has notched two victories since his second defeat to Antonio Tarver in 2005, beating Prince Badii Ajamu in July, 2006, and Anthony Hanshaw on July 14 this year.
He said: "Tito is a great champion and I know he leaves a great legacy behind him. If someone like that challenges you, how are you going to turn that down?"
Twice-retired Trinidad, 34, said: "I have too much boxing left inside of me and I want to show that I am still one of the best fighters in the world."
Promoter Don King believes the contest could beat HBO's record of 2.15m pay-per-view buys, set in May by the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Oscar De La Hoya showdown.
