Limond is determined to hold on to his Commonwealth lightweight title |
Willie Limond has started a gruelling schedule in the Scottish Highlands as he prepares to face Amir Khan. Rising star Khan, 20, challenges for his first major title when he takes on the Commonwealth lightweight champion at the O2 Arena on 14 July.
"I know that this is going to be a very hard fight so to prepare for it I've gone to the hardest place in Britain," said the 28-year-old Scotsman.
"It's like a torture camp up but I wouldn't want it anyway else."
Limond, who has only been beaten once in his 29 fights, has set up camp in Fort William.
"It's brilliant here because it's in the middle of nowhere with no distractions so I can just fully concentrate on training three times a day," he added.
"I am out every morning doing hard mountain runs with a weighted vest and I've got a fell-runner to set the pace and we are in the gym for the rest of the day.
"I will finish off my training in Glasgow for the last few weeks with sparring and I'm putting in a lot of rounds for strength work against super-middleweight Kenny Anderson."
