Cory Spinks is following in big boxing footsteps

Taylor, who is being lined up for a 2007 showdown with Joe Calzaghe, is favourite to defend his WBC middleweight title and unbeaten record.

But Spinks believes he will emulate his father Leon - who dethroned Muhammad Ali in 1978 - by beating a larger man.

"He beat a bigger champion and that's what I'll do," said Spinks.

The 29-year-old, who has lost just three of 39 fights, will have his famous father in the stands.

"My father gives me in the inspiration that makes me feel I can do it," said Cory Spinks of Leon, who was heavyweight champion for seven months before Ali reclaimed his crown in a rematch.

"Having him there for this fight will give me an extra boost. It will make me fight harder.

Taylor, 28, who has won 26 of 27 bouts with one draw, is not underestimating his rival.

"Cory is a very good fighter and I have a lot of respect for him," said Taylor.

"We've known each other since we where amateurs. I know he will be well prepared to take my belts and I won't be taking him lightly.
