Khan to fight Medjadji at Wembley
Amir Khan
Khan won the IBF inter-continental light welterweight title last month
Amir Khan's next opponent has been confirmed as French super featherweight Mohammed Medjadji.

The unbeaten 20-year-old will meet Medjadji, 30, in his 11th professional fight at Wembley Arena on 17 February.

The lightweight contest is on the undercard of Audley Harrison against Michael Sprott and Graham Earl versus Michael Katsidis.

"I'm just going to go out there and do what I normally do and put in an outstanding performance," said Khan.

Khan maintains his ambition is to match Naseem Hamed's record of becoming a world champion at 21.

And he sees a fight with Luton lightweight Earl as a possible avenue to pursue.

I'll definitely be watching the Earl fight on the night and I'd love to fight him in the future

Khan added: "I'll definitely be watching the Earl fight on the night and I'd love to fight him in the future.

"If he wins the WBO title then a fight against him later this year would be more than realistic.

"I'm getting stronger every day and I want 2007 to be a big year for me.

"I'd love to be fighting for a world title by end of the year, and in between I want to win British and European titles at lightweight."

Medjadji suffered a sixth-round stoppage defeat by Khan's domestic rival Kevin Mitchell in 2005 and has 17 wins (three knockouts) and three defeats on his record.

"I've had a look at Medjadji and he looks like a good opponent," Khan added.

"He's a French champion and he's been given plenty of notice so he'll come in all guns blazing.

"When he boxed Kevin he put up a decent showing."

Khan's last outing was in December when he claimed the IBF inter-continental light welterweight title by beating the Rachid Drilzane.

However, Khan relinquished the belt in order to concentrate on the lightweight division.
