Cook and Harrison in war of words
Scott Harrison and Nicky Cook

Nicky Cook and Scott Harrison have fired the opening shots of an explosive war of words ahead of Saturday's WBO featherweight showdown in London.

A bad-tempered conference call reached boiling point on Monday as Cook claimed he would easily claim Harrison's crown.

Cook said: "You've had your day and you're just another fighter for me, so you can just shut your noise."

But furious champion Harrison hit back, insisting: "I've seen your likes before pal, and I'll ****** shut your noise!"

Harrison's build-up to the fight has been far from ideal.

You're just a typical big mouth and you don't bother me at all

Scott Harrison to Nicky Cook

Wthin days of arriving in his training camp in Malaga in October, the 29-year-old was arrested over allegations of assault and theft and spent five weeks in a Spanish prison.

And now Cook insists he is ready to add to the Glaswegian's problems by dethroning him at London's Excel Arena.

Cook said: "Scott's been a good world champion, he's been there and done it, but now there is a new kid on the block and I'm ready to take over."

He taunted Harrison: "I'm the one who's calm and collected and you are the one who's sitting there nervous - I've got you rattled."

But the champion retorted: "You're just a typical big mouth and you don't bother me at all.

"I'll shove that phone up your ****. I'll see you on 9 December."

Dagenham fighter Cook had the last word, however.

The unbeaten former British, European and Commonwealth champion, unbeaten in 26 professional fights, teased the champion, adding: "Yeah, I hope I see you too.

"Just make sure you turn up!"

The two fighters are set to meet at a press conference in London on Thursday, while the fireworks could continue at Friday's weigh-in.

The fight itself headlines an excellent bill that also sees Danny Williams face Audley Harrison for the Commonwealth heavyweight title.
