Wlodarczyk takes vacant IBF title

Wlodarczyk and Cunningham at the weigh-in

Pole Krzysztof Wlodarczyk outpointed American Steve Cunningham to claim the vacant IBF cruiserweight title.

Both fighters struggled to gain the upper hand and Cunningham felt he had done enough to win the fight in Warsaw.

Wlodarczyk landed with a left and a right hook in the sixth round but Cunningham had the Pole rocking with flurries in rounds seven and eight.

The judges went for Wlodarczyk in a split decision, leaving Cunningham calling for an immediate rematch.
