| Birmingham amateur boxing champion Don Broadhurst is turning professional. The 22-year-old flyweight from Aston won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in March. He is being taken under the wing of the boxing promoter Frank Warren and makes his professional debut in September in a bill featuring Amir Khan. Broadhurst said: "I just didn't want to wait any longer. I wanted to strike while the iron's hot. There are bigger rewards now."
