Juan Urango beat Australia's Naoufel Ben Rabah by unanimous decision to
win the IBF light welterweight belt vacated by Ricky Hatton in April. Colombian-born Urango (17-0-1) won the 12-round fight on all three cards - 116-112, 115-113 and 117-111.
The decision was not popular with all in the Florida crowd as Ben Rabah was far more accurate with his punches.
Ben Rabah - an Olympian for his native Tunisia before moving to Australia - simply smiled and shook his head.
It was the first fight in 10 months for Urango, who was
recovering from hand surgery.
Ben Rabah, who entered as the number one contender, fell to 24-2 after fighting through a hand injury suffered midway through the bout. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury.
