Hobson still looked a little rusty against Keeton |
Mark Hobson survived a knockdown at the hands of John 'Buster' Keeton to defend his British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles in Barnsley. The Huddersfield fighter dropped to his knees in the second round after being caught by the veteran's powerful hook.
Hobson took a standing eight count but delivered a series of big left hands to assert his dominance in the third.
Referee Dave Parris stopped the fight in the fourth round after a barrage of Hobson punches left Keeton reeling.
Hobson was pleased to get back on track after losing a close contest in March to WBU title-holder Enzo Maccarinelli.
The 30-year-old was out of the ring for 15 months prior to the fight with Maccarinelli because of a combination of bad luck, injury and contractual issues.
"I knew beforehand John would come to win and start fast." said Hobson.
"He caught me with a good shot but I got up all right and finished him off well in the end.
"I have had a few tear-ups now so I would like some easier fights!"
The win extended Hobson's record to 25 wins from 30 contests.
