Rahman defeated Britain's Lennox Lewis in 2001 |
The WBC has ordered Hasim Rahman to defend his heavyweight crown against Kazakhstan's Oleg Maskaev, with the winner to face James Toney. Rahman, handed the WBC belt when Vitali Klitschko retired last November, drew against Toney on 18 March.
Toney wanted a rematch but Maskaev, who knocked Rahman out in 1999, is the WBC's number one contender.
The 37-year-old Maskaev, who has been out of the ring since November, has won his last 10 fights.
