Kevin Anderson was originally due to defend his title in December |
Commonwealth welterweight champion Kevin Anderson is to make his first title defence against Australian champion Shannon McMahon on 17 March. McMahon has lost only once in 10 bouts but Anderson is hopeful a victory at Kirkcaldy's Fife Ice Arena can be a catalyst towards greater success.
"Experience from the amateurs tells me the Aussies are always tough," he said.
"This is a big year for me as I hope to challenge for the British title and get further up the European rankings."
Anderson's original first defence of the title against Agoe Ashong of Ghana was called off at the last minute when the African failed a blood test.
Anderson said: "I was disappointed the December date was cancelled at the last minute but that's boxing. I must now focus all my attention on McMahon."
