Mexican Barrera is already an all-time legend of the ring |
Marco Antonio Barrera added the IBF super-featherweight title to his WBC crown with a unanimous decision against Australia's Robbie Peden in Las Vegas. Barrera, 31, dominated from the outset, twice securing scores of 118-109 and 118-108 during the fight on Saturday.
The Mexican took the WBC title from rival Erik Morales in November 2004.
It was a clinical points win for Barrera, who snapped out his left jab with relentless accuracy and followed up with a series of damaging rights.
The comfortable victory lacked the drama of Barrera's epic trilogy against compatriot Morales, although he did come close to a stoppage with a tremendous onslaught in the final round.
Meanwhile, welterweight Shane Mosley continued his rehabilitation with a 10-round win over the previously undefeated Jose Luis Cruz.
Mosley, a former world title holder at three different weights, lost four of his six bouts between 2002 and 2004, with Vernon Forrest and Ronald Wright both outpointing him twice.
But the 34-year-old picked up his second successive win of 2005 by outscoring Cruz 98-92, 96-94 and 97-93 with a solid performance.
