WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko looks set to make his next defence against American Hasim Rahman. The Ukrainian, who dismantled British challenger Danny Williams in December, told his website a fight with Rahman was 90% likely to happen.
And 7 May is being put forward as a tentative date for the bout at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
Rahman, 32, is best known for his shock 2001 defeat of Lennox Lewis, a loss that the Briton subsequently avenged.
Rahman has won his last five contests to improve his record to 40-5 with one draw and 33 knockouts.
He is rated as top challenger to each of the four major heavyweight belts and his tilt at Klitschko's title could be the start of a round-robin aimed at unifying the division.
