Ricky Hatton will be ringside at the WBC light welterweight fight between Arturo Gatti and Floyd Mayweather angling for a crack at the winner. The Briton, whose proposed fight with Diego Corrales is now on hold, wants to boost his US profile in Atlantic City.
"I'm over to watch the Gatti-Mayweather fight and hopefully to get a fight with the winner." he told Fightnews.com.
Hatton's promoter Frank Warren suggested on Thursday that talks with the Corrales camp had broken down.
"We couldn't get what we wanted so the fight won't be going ahead at the moment," said Warren.
"Our figures and their figures didn't add up, but sometimes that happens and you move on to the next thing."
Hatton won the IBF belt after stopping veteran Kostya Tszyu, while lightweight Corrales recently won an explosive comeback fight against Jose Luis Castillo.
"It will give the United States public the chance to see Ricky in the flesh and really get him talked about," added Warren. Corrales is expected to sign up to a rematch with Castillo - a bout ordered by the WBC.
Meanwhile, Tszyu's doctor has denied the Russian-born Australian suffered bruising of the brain in his battle with Hatton on 4 June.
"Categorically there was no bruising in or on Kostya's brain and it would be misleading for anyone to say so," said Dr Bill Anseline in relation to a story published in Australia.
"Kostya underwent a series of routine scans and tests last week purely as a precautionary measure. These tests included attention to the head and stomach regions.
"Kostya was bruised in several areas as a result of the fight, and while he had some discomfort last week, there is no mid or long term effect at all."
