Ricky Hatton put on a savage display to knock out Ray Oliveira at London's ExCel Arena and stay on target for light welterweight king Kostya Tszyu. The WBU champion looked purposeful from the start, flooring Oliveira with a clubbing right hand in round one.
Hatton kept up the blistering pace and reduced Oliveira to the role of punchbag for long periods of the fight.
And the challenger, who had never been stopped, finally wilted under a barrage of shots in the 10th round.
Manchester's Hatton, fighting in London for the first time in three years, was more than happy with his showing.
"I kept my work-rate up and out-boxed him rather than bashed him.
"He is very good defensively and covered up well. Ray said he would out-box me but I out-boxed him and I think I showed my class again."

Hatton, 26, showed incredible work-rate from the opening bell, raining down accurate shots on his opponent and sending a shell-shocked Oliveira to the deck with 40 seconds left in round one.
Oliveira dusted himself down and began to show signs of resistence as the fight wore on, although he was never able to land anything of real menace.
As the fight reached the middle rounds, it became clear complacency might be Hatton's only problem as his 36-year-old opponent, although proud, began to look dispirited.
Oliveira appeared to suffer a broken nose in the seventh and then in the ninth he began grimacing as Hatton slammed right after right into his left ear.
In the 10th Hatton rammed another big right hand into his opponent's ear causing Oliveira to crumple to one knee and signal to his corner that the game is up.
Hatton continued: "It really gets on my nerves when people say I am not world-class. Ray is a fresh 36-year-old and was in fantastic shape.
"I wanted to be cute and sap his strength, and slowly I broke him up. Against a man as hard as that, I think that was pretty impressive.
"I wanted to be the first one to stop this world-class opponent and I did. I out-boxed the boxer. When I am up for the challenge that is what happens.
"I am going to take the belts off the rest of them. Whether it is in this country or the States, I don't care, but I will get Kostya Tszyu."
