Lacy talks up Calzaghe prospects
Jeff 'Left Hook' Lacy beat Syd Vanderpool to win the IBF belt
Jeff Lacy has stepped up the pressure on WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe to give him a bout in 2005.

The American IBF holder promised that a unification contest between the pair would be the "fight of the year".

And Lacy told boxingtalk.com: "I love a challenge and I know fighting Calzaghe would be that - he comes to fight and that brings the best out of me.

"It's going to be another great, action-packed fight where people say 'damn, Jeff rose to the occasion again'."

Welshman Calzaghe has expressed an interest in fighting Lacy, but he is not sure that the fight can be made just yet.

Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren is also trying to line up the likes of Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.

"It's all about money. I don't mind going over there [to Britain] to fight him as long as the TV cameras are there," said Lacy.

"When I fight Calzaghe, you're going to be on the edge of your seat because I know he comes to fight and he's going to bring it to me.

"But I love that, I'm not scared. Trust me, I guarantee me and Calzaghe would be the fight of 2005."
