Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan is hoping to make a decision about his boxing future by the end of the week. The Amateur Boxing Association said last week it was offering Khan �70,000 a year to delay turning professional.
Khan's agent Asif Vali told BBC Sport that an offer had been made but said further talks with the ABA were needed.
"Then both myself, Amir's family and Amir will sit down and discuss what to do next - hopefully by the end of the week," said Vali.
The ABA has made the offer, with the backing of Sport England, in an effort to persuade Khan to resist the financial lure of turning pro and to instead target a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
"We received an offer in writing (from the ABA) on Friday evening," said Vali.
"But we need to clarify a few things about the offer which requires meeting with the ABA."
No date for a meeting has been set but Vali added: "The ABA has given us seven to 10 days to respond."
Vali has already held meetings with professional promoters and said he would carry on discussions with them while negotiations with the ABA were in progress.
"We are still in talks with other people and we will continue to talk to other people," he said.
