Doherty ready to step up
Tony Doherty
Doherty has won all 11 fights since turning professional
Pontypool welterweight Tony Doherty says he is looking forward to taking on a higher level of opponent.

"I'm very pleased with the way things are going, after Christmas the fights are going to get hard," he said.

The 21-year-old has won 11 straight fights since turning professional, but most have been veteran journeymen.

Meanwhile, Cwmbran's Jamie Arthur could take on Scot Andrew Ferrans for the newly introduced Celtic super featherweight title.

Commonwealth Games gold medalist Arthur, 24, is unbeaten in nine fights since turning professional, and is presently recovering from bad cuts sustained in his last fight.

Ferrans, 23, has a 17-7-2 record and recently challenged Carl Johanneson for the WBF super featherweight title.
