Craig Docherty has enlisted Willie Limond and Martin Watson as quality sparring partners ahead of his European super-featherweight title challenge. Commonwealth champion Docherty faces Russian Boris Sinitsin at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall on 15 October.
"Willie's class," said Docherty. "He beat me in the amateurs when we were 15 so I'll need to get my own back now!
"Willie's ideal for the Sinitsin fight, he has a nice, tucked-up style of boxing so it should be good."
Docherty's manager and promoter Tommy Gilmour is delighted that rival manager Alex Morrison has put up two high-level local fighters to help his man.
Gilmour claimed the current climate of co-operation in Glasgow's boxing fraternity has not been seen in the city since his fighter Pat Clinton beat Mexican Isidro Perez for the WBO world flyweight title in 1992.
He said: "The nearest I've came to this was when Pat fought Perez, when everybody, from the man in the street to the media to Alex Morrison, came together because we wanted Pat to win.
"This time Alex has graciously volunteered Willie and Martin to spar with Craig in the run-up.
"Over the last few week everything has been done in a great spirit. The is a fight that's cut down any rivalry people might think exists."
