Spinks was knocked down in the 12th |
American Cory Spinks retained his WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight titles with a unanimous points victory over Zab Judah on Saturday. Spinks felled Judah in the 11th round but then got off the canvas himself in the 12th to earn the decision.
Judges Chuck Giampa and Dave Moretti scored the bout 114-112 while Doug Tucker had it 116-111.
Spinks, son of former heavyweight champion Leon, upset Ricardo Mayorga to become undisputed champion in December.
"I tried to tell everybody I was more than just a boxer," he said referring to his knockdown of Judah.
"I can get mean too."
Judah, meanwhile, felt he had let a good opportunity slip.
"I think I could have done more, especially in the early rounds, but I think I did enough."
