Vitali Klitschko will fight Corrie Sanders for the vacant WBC heavyweight title on 24 April, says his promoter. The fight at an undisclosed venue will crown a successor to Lennox Lewis, who retired as champion in February.
Klitschko, who lost to Lewis last June, is the WBC's top-rated contender, while South African Sanders is second after beating Klitschko's brother Wladimir.
Lewis will have a role in promoting the fight as a director of the management company representing Sanders.
Promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl revealed to a German news agency that the fight would happen on Thursday.
He also announced that Klitschko's younger sibling Vladimir would take on American Lamon Brewster for the WBO title on 10 April in Las Vegas.
"These are two top fights within two weeks in the USA that will enjoy tremendous interest worldwide," he said.
