Bruno has twice been runner-up in the Sports Personality awards |
Boxer Frank Bruno has made a welcome return to television screens following his recent battle with mental illness. The former British world heavyweight champion, who was admitted to a mental hospital for treatment in September, told the BBC he was back to his old jovial ways.
"I'm breathing, breathing. Musn't grumble," he said on the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year show.
Bruno added he already had already made plans for his immediate future.
"Nothing wrong with doing a bit of pantomime and a bit of ducking and diving," he said. Another former boxing champion, Barry McGuigan, said he was delighted to see his old friend back to good health.
"He's a massively popular guy," said McGuigan.
"A terrific fellow. We all love him and delighted he's well again."
