Haye claims first title
Cruiserweight hopeful David Haye
Haye will now setting his sights on the British title
David Haye sent out an ominous warning to his British cruiserweight rivals by demolishing Tony Dowling inside one round on Friday.

Haye claimed the newly-formed English cruiserweight title - and the first title of his professional career - when the referee stopped the fight at London's York Hall after only one minute and 35 seconds.

Dowling failed to land a meaningful punch during the bout and was knocked to the canvas twice.

"I feel on top of the world. I would have beaten anyone tonight. Not only beat them, I would have knocked them out," said Haye.

"It's a stepping stone. I'm proud to be English and now I'm English champion.

"Whoever is British champion next year, don't get too comfortable, because I am going to come and take that belt."

At the end of the fight Haye promised his fans he would add the British belt to his English title next year.

Haye's original opponent, Gary Delaney, was forced to withdraw from the bout because of shingles.
