Hatton is undefeated in 33 fights |
Manchester's Ricky Hatton plans to close the year with the 11th defence of his WBU light-welterweight title. Hatton, who won the British Boxing Board of Control Boxer of the Year Award on Sunday, will headline at the MEN Arena on 13 December.
"Whoever is put I front of me, I will be looking to put on a sensational performance to end the year with and then set my sights on 2004," he said
Hatton's opponent has yet to be confirmed.
Known in the ring as 'The Hitman', he is now undefeated in 33 fights and hopes to challenge for one of the major belts in the new year.
"My plan is to close 2003 with an unbeaten record and then focus on next year," he continued.
"I believe that I will get to face and prove myself against the best in the World and people will really see what Ricky Hatton is capable of."
"I am getting really excited just thinking about the mega-fights that are out there for me and the one I would really love to fight first is Arturo Gatti."
"Fans in Britain know him well from his epics with Mickey Ward and a fight between us would be an absolute war."
