Haye: Dropped for the first time |
Talented British cruiserweight David Haye had to pick himself off the canvas before earning his eighth straight victory against Lolenga Mock, of the Congo. Fighting on the undercard of the controversial Danny Williams fight, Haye had been tipped to win in double-quick time.
But, after getting on top in the first round, he got caught by a big right in the second and was sent crashing to the floor for the first time in his career. Mock took advantage of some sloppy defensive work from Haye, and looked set for a shock knockout.
But the local boy showed resilience to hang on until the bell.
Then, in the fourth round, he delivered a thunderous blow of his own, sending Mock to the canvas.

Although the spirited Congo fighter duly picked himself up, the referee stopped the fight.
"If it was up to me the fight would have carried on," said Haye afterwards.
"His eyes looked as clear as mine were when I was knocked down. It was a good scrap - I enjoyed it."
